My New Bundle of Joy Has Arrived

Ok, not the bundle of joy that poops. My new Nikon D300s showed up today, much to the delight of well, just me. The “s” stands for video, among a few other updates. So, just to recap, “s” is for video. Makes sense, right? Why not “v” for video? Who knows.

So, like any proud new owner, I took it out for a quick spin around Balboa Park. Nothing too exciting yet, but I’m looking forward doing some further test shoots in the future.

For those that want the meat and potatoes, here goes… Lenses used: Nikon 10.5mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 17-55mm 2.8, and 70-200mm 2.8 VR. Colored using Mojo Effects. I didn’t bring my video tripod, hence the jerky pans. Also, I don’t have a follow-focus setup yet, so we can blame the jerky rack focusing on that.

When You’re Not Home

Just a quick video I shot today to test out a few film effects. Additionally, I wanted to capture the peacefulness of an empty house in the middle of the day. No people and no TV, Just the sunlight streaming through the windows and the cool breeze rustling the blinds.

Profile Video: Jessie Keylon

Just finished putting together a short profile video of Jessie. We shot it this afternoon, and I was able to put it together in a few hours. Ideally, I’ll be able to sell the idea to potential clients as a “get to know me” video they can put on their website. What do you think?

Motion: Clouds

I’m jealous. Jealous of the east coast with their seasons, cool weather, and occasional snow. Being in San Diego, we usually get “Sunny and 70,” which is great, but extremely boring. That is, until today. I woke up to clouds in the sky, cool weather, and the feeling that maybe fall is coming. Finally.

In honor of the fall-ness, I decided to make a short time lapse video. I dusted off my fish-eye lens and set the camera in the freshly-washed front window. One frame every 10 seconds, and about three hours later, I had my video. Enjoy.

Recent Projects + Keeping the Bugs Out

It’s been a busy few weeks. I just completed editing the first of four videos for Life Factor Research (see above). Tomorrow, I’ll share a few images from two photo shoots I’ve completed recently.

Beyond that, the only other exciting thing would be that Jessie and I built a screen for my office window. I picked up a build-it-yourself screen kit and 30 minutes later, we had an ill-fitting, poorly constructed screen for my window. It mostly fits and should keep out a majority of the bugs – that is, if it doesn’t fall out. I figured it would be easy. Is anything ever easy?

A Nice Day for the Park

Where does everyone go on a nice Sunday afternoon in San Diego? Apparently Balboa Park, which is why it took us 15 minutes to find a parking spot. Once we did, Jessie and I headed out to shoot some test video for an upcoming project. Once we got home, I threw together this short video for your visual enjoyment. The video was color graded to give it a warm feel. Hope you enjoy!
