It’s day two in New York, and it’s still cold. While we were out for dinner, it was 18 degrees, and with the wind chill, it felt like 3 degrees. THREE. DEGREES. Brrrrr.

We got a late start to the day and first headed out to Whole Foods for lunch. (Yup, that late.) Then, headed down to the NY Public Library for a peek. As you can see above, it is truly grand.

From there, we headed down to the Ed Sullivan Theater to pick up our tickets to the Late Show. We picked them up, stopped for a hot beverage, and then lined up for the show.

Everyone gets a number, or in our case the word “Red” on our ticket. If you have a number, you’re sitting on the floor level. If you have “Red”, then you’re sitting in the balcony. It actually was a decent view. We got to see Paul Shaffer’s shiny bald head.

After that, we headed back to the hotel room, took in some free wine and cheese, chatted with a former baseball player, and then walked 5 very cold blocks to dinner.

Tomorrow morning, we’re heading to B&H. If you don’t know, B&H is disneyland for photographers – and, well, anyone who likes electronic stuff. Oh, and it should be a little warmer.

Stay Up Late + New York

Today was a travel day. We got up at 6:00am in San Francisco and caught the 9:10 flight to New York. Before we knew it, the day was over and we were on the E to midtown. Unless you live in NY, you probably don’t know how the weather is. If you do, then you know it’s chilly – in the 20s.

We’ll be here until Sunday, and then fly back home to San Diego. We haven’t planned much for NY yet, but we do know that we’ll be attending the Late Show (with David Letterman for those of you who don’t stay up past 8pm) on Thursday. So, if you’re up, watch the show and look for us. If you’re going to be snoozing, then Tivo it. Unfortunately, we’ll be present for the most un-interesting guests of the week – some fishing show host and a band we’ve never heard of.

If my fingers work tomorrow, I’ll do my best to take a few photos and post them. For now, I’m off to thaw out.

It’s Monday and we’re still in San Francisco. This morning, we headed to San Francisco State University, where Jessie met with a advisor about applying to the school. From there, we got lunch and then took the ferry to Sausalito. If you’re thinking of going to Sausalito, don’t. Well, unless you like stuffy gift shops.

From there, we took a bus back into downtown San Francisco, which happened to go over the Golden Gate Bridge – my first time. Tomorrow, we’re planning on visiting a few museums and checking out a few neighborhoods. Then, on Wednesday, we’re off to New York.

See a few more images after the break…

It’s our second day in San Francisco. I’m tired, the GeoTagging isn’t working on the blog, and we have 6 more days to go. It’s going to be a long week.

In other news, today we took a GoCar tour of the city. A GoCar is technically a 3-wheeled motorcycle that seats two. I forgot to take an actual picture of the car, so if you want to see one, Google it. Above you can see Jessie driving.

We took a 2.5 hour tour around many of San Francisco’s parks. It was nice being in a small, open vehicle. Unfortunately, they are a little under-powered. At one point, Jessie had to get out and push. I’m serious. Also, the brakes are just like the breaks on your bike (only, you won’t flip forward if you only use the front one.)

After our tour, we took the super-touristy cable car back to our hotel. We then took a break, headed out to dinner, and finally off to see a movie – Frost/Nixon.

Tomorrow, we’re starting off our day with a tour of SF State University. After that – who knows. Also, tomorrow I become an even older man. If you look closely, you might see a few gray hairs.

More photos after the break… (I know – the fisheye is getting a little old.)
